I've come around to thinking that writing is a physical act -- both the working with the narrative in your head, and the shaping of that narrative into words on a page. The point is, it's *doing,* and more doing than many people realize!

As I read in one book, if you're talking about it, you're not writing it.Antonia Malchikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11662184316714590116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5487813445493594263.post-13705138490126691142011-05-17T16:54:14.891-07:002011-05-17T16:54:14.891-07:00This is so very fine, Antonia. I've said before, and my mentor said to me, Writer's write--they don't just plan to write, they don't merely talk about writing, they don't hope or dream or make lists about writing...writers write. They may have an audience of one--some people are very fine letter writers; their letters are found long after they die; and they are beautiful and meaningful--or an audience of millions. If they are committed, and writing, what someone regards as "real" writing is none of their business (just as what others think about me is none of mine). A writer doesn't look for validation from others, though it's a nice bonus, and a paycheck is helpful. A writer responds to her muse. Someone who does that faithfully, in writing, is a writer.

Thanks for the inspiration of your posts. Peace and continued good things for you in writing and in life.

DianeD.M.
